The rotary sizing mill consits of two sets of rollers (cages) that are set at an angle to the tube to produce a cone. The tube is feed through the cone by the rollers and results in the reduction of the tube diameter. Replaces the sizing section on the tube or pipe mill.
Suitable for the sizing of all round tube from 30mm to 650mm wall thickness 0.8 to 16mm at speeds up to 150mpm.Suitable for all materials. Some limitation apply. Not suitable for high speed ERW mills below 105 mm.
The advantages are; the machine is smaller with a lower capital cost, tooling and operating cost; tooling is adjustable and can manufacture all sizes within its operating range with improved accuracy; surface finish of the incoming strip is improved by 30 %; tooling is of a simple design and very quick to change; the cold work is reduced and energy savings are considerable.
